What do you like?
It's a really good shot. I like that you can see the entire body.
I'm the same way, i don't edit my shots; whenever I walk my dog I tke my camera and
snap shots as I see them :)Helpful 1 25 June 2012What would you improve?
Honestly, nothing. At most I'd get a tad closer to the zebra.; but not much.

thanks for the help and suggestions! are the edittinng programmes free? as i dont think there's much point me paying for it. i just take random shots on days out, rather than waiting hours for a perfect shot haha!

KatiePhotographie@cookiecream You'll find that editing is pretty easy to pick up! Starting in something like photoshop could be a bit overwhelming, but Lightroom or even something as simple as iPhoto (on the mac) are easy to learn. I used to think editing was more like a "cheaters" way to get good photos -- but I know better now. All good photos go through some sort of post-processing! I edit EVERY photo I take, and enjoy the editing portion just as much as taking the photo! (Of course, it helps that my husband is a visual effects/animation artist, and knows photoshop like the back of his hand, haha).

Try increasing the contrast, using a larger aperture and leave space in front of the zebra. :) Love zebras.. ;)

Definitely agree with knonkop: having more space in front of the zebra, rather than behind, would add a lot to the composition. But you still have a lot to work with! Did you take this in RAW? If so, you should be able to play with increasing the blacks, and contrast as said below, and up the vibrance of the colors. Play with it a little; the results could be great!

What do you like?
i like the angle that you photographed him from, and that there are no branches or rocks or whatever blocking some of him.

some things to consider - a larger apeture could have blurred the backgrough a bit more, making the zebra stand out against the background.
compositionwise, you could maybe crop it a bit tighter, taking off from the top and right edge. its also usually better to leave more space infront of him, than behind. as if you leaving space for him to walk into.
on post processing, try increasing the contrast and see if you like what that does. it will take the greyish haze away. bring out the colours, and perhaps even make the stripes more bold.. -

well,i think you shot in a cloudy day,,,,,but its ok for me
kanonkop@cookiecream give the editting a bash. if you anything like me, you probably thinking 'i'm not interested in photography to peand hours at a computer editing'. but you'll see that as your photography skills improve, you'll realise the importance of PP work. think of it like developing the photo.
