What do you like?
G'day Brett, To me this is by far the better of the pair mainly because of its left-to-right composition but also for its gradation of light from left to right. Slowly but surely the jungle is reclaiming the land but in a wonderful way Nature, (or possibly man), has framed that head nicley, to catch the eye af any passing photographer. Lovely tones, shadows and contrast give this image a nice finishing touch. GB D!

Nitpick: C lone out that white thread-like root from top left. ;-)

What do you like?
This is great. I am a sucker for dark contrast photos. Love the sepia, goes well with the subject.

Nothing really, maybe the border, but that has nothing to do with the overall photo. awesome job!

kanonkop@prephoto10 @KatiePhotographie great thanks guys. KAtie, i'm glad you prefer mine to the CD cover hahaha!

yeah, to be honest, i took the picture as a memory, because its an important icon in the Thai Budhism. and it was very plain - grey roots on grey stone. while playing around with the pick, i pushed the black point all the way up to try bring out more contrast and interesting detail. the deep dark shadows in the roots appeared, and only then did i get the above 'theme' or idea.
so it was a bit of fluke (not sure if thats an english word), but thats photography right..

virtually the same photo and editing :( bummer-

KatiePhotographie@kanonkop If it helps -- I like yours better than the CD cover ;-) I prefer the sharpness of yours! Plus, the font on the CD cover is not ideal...

The roots are super cool too.

from the photo I never would have guessed it was that small, I'd have said a couple feet tall anyway..and even if some one else did somthing similar , it's still a great pic

What do you like?
The focus is better but I also like the composition better from this side. Great job
2 May 2012What would you improve?
Nothing to improve really but what I am left wondering about with this photo is the scale....I'm not really sure how big anything is.

a holy sign. Where I grow up is all about buddhism and that's a lot meaning to me :D

I prefer natural colors for its reality

kanonkop@DennisG thanks Dennis
9 June 2012good point re the top left glitch! all about the small details hey.
yeah, i was really happy with the outcome of this (and the other) photo. the RAW image was really un exciting and didn't stand out at all. i started playing around in LR and found that increasing the contrast and black point really transformed the pic :)
