Great image so powerful and you have used the whiteness of the sky to draw to the subject perfectly...great shot..

Thanks for the feedback. I have added a small export of the original image as it was imported into Lightroom.

@dakkurt It was an orange machine. what you see in the background aren't plant but buildings on the other bank of the river. The colours were quite boring that day actually.
@kanonkop This was actually taken knelt down. I'm not sure it's possible to make a similar shot without less cobblestones. I made a couple of shots from that position trying to keep everything in the frame but I didn't try this from many different angles. Lying down might have worked :)
@frank It does look a bit odd with the white sky but actually that's the part that was least affected in post-processing. I think a shot on a sunny day with a blue sky and some nice clouds would be better. I know that by forcing contrast in the B&W conversion the sky has a somewhat unnatural feeling. -

What do you like?
distotional balance appleals to my eye.The greyscale workes to some degree
25 May 2012What would you improve?
as an image the balance is way out.The massive white area above the greys has no couterpoint. Two images...one the earth moving equipment and the other...............white.Has some elements of cut and past.Just my opinion though

What do you like?
that s cool picture, i dig the wide angle distortion effect. converting to B&W was a good idea
25 May 2012What would you improve?
i'd like to see a version where you knelt down, therefore reducing the amount of paving visible but still keeping a similar composition.

Great DOF, and great perspective that makes the excavator powerful in the image. Although the background is light and hazy it does not draw from the image, could even make the subject stand out more.

What do you like?
Fantastic, I like these big machines and deep perspective like angle you selected. I think you could do what you intend.
24 May 2012What would you improve?
I would like to see colors of machine (orange or ?), water (gray blue or only bright gray), ground (brown?) and plants at background. What is the color on barrel. And I would like to see a shot taken slightly from left.
