What do you like?
The framing, or borders on the sides. I think a lot of people miss out when they don't use those borders.
20 July 2012What would you improve?
I would like a quicker shutter-speed here if possible. That would slow down the water, to be identified better, as well as bring her hair into focus.

What do you like?
i like the slow shutter speed that soothes the rain drops.. it adds a sort of soft and gentleness to the lady though she is clad in a denim wear
Helpful 1 20 July 2012What would you improve?
the bottom of the image has some clutters..i think it cant be avoided when you take a quick shot.. many times i wonder whether to give importance to the image as a wholesome (since it is the moment which needs to be captured..that candid element is more important) or the nitty-gritties that make it a perfect shot.. anticipation is the only thing that can make or break the shot..

Hello Ranjith!
Nice to see you at the Crèma on this very wet day.
Many thanks indeed for your supportive, insightful and encouraging feedback and input.
I now have a new colour and b&w version of this shot without the "clutter" at the bottom of shot all thanks to the magic of Photoshop. It is a good lesson for me not to be so complacent and lazy. 8-)

This is the perfect picture for black and white. Great contrast! This is a great street photo.
5 June 2012What would you improve?
Perhaps the only thing is the distraction in the lower left corner. Otherwise, great work!

Ciao Stacie, Welcome to the Crèma on this wet, wet day. Mega thanks for your great wrap. I left that shadow in the shot so that area was not just an open space. It gives the image balance. That doesn't mean I will leave it there though. Later on it might bug me enough to remove it. 8-) GB D!

20 July 2012Hiya Connor!
A big welcome to the Crèma, my favourite caffeine oasis.
Max thanx for for insightful and encouraging feedback and input.
I use the 1/100sec shutter speed deliberately on rainy days to show the streaking raindrops. Much more creative and real in my opinion.
The softness of the hair (and many other things in the scene), are solely due to the fact there is a LOT of rain between me and the whole scene in the viewfinder.
[Question to ponder in your own photography: "Does EVERYTHING HAVE to be sharp?" Check out the history of photography and the work of te best photographers of their time. It is this digital age that has put such an emphasis on sharpness much to the detriment of fine art photography I beilieve. (Justathort!)]

20 July 2012No problem. Certainly a photo doesn't need to be sharp- I mainly thought that if it was more focused it could be more dramatic, which I find interesting. There isn't a problem with having a soft look, none at all; I was just taking a moment to see what I would've tried here.
