Ill have a look at my camera now, but as far as I know there's no AV mode and only 2 choices on the F value , I'm saving up for a nikon D900 hopefully ill have more success with that camera :) thanx for the advice tho :)

no worries :) isn't there an Av mode on the top dial with the Finpix? if so, select Av mode and try using the lowest F values you can select, when shooting portraits. it will decrease your depth of field, hence model stays in focus, but background becomes soft

DC, as I read you are on the begining of your photography journey. My advice is that never loose faith in yourself but give respect to this art and learn, learn. Best method to look over thousands of captures day by day - and if you have the talent, nothing more just the technical ones.) Have nice lights!

Kanonkop, thank you for your helpful advice, I have been cutting down on the editing unfortunately with the camera I'm using there isn't very many settings and the focus does not blur the background unless I'm doing macro shots, I'm using a fujifilm finepix S2950, but I still really appreciate your advice, mblum4 thank you for the compliments :)

I'm assuming that the same editting was applied to the rest of the shoot. if so, i would say its a bit saturated for me. the model should stand out the most, but in this pic, the colour on the rock is so strong that it attracts most of my attention. likewise, you could use a large aperture to blur out the background to make the model more prominent.
have a relook at your WB, it could be a tad bit on the warm side (check out the yellow tones on her skin). though decreasing the saturation would also reduce that.. -
