What do you like?
The focus on the hands really works well and leads the eye down the sand to the bowl; great colours too! How did the sand look with other shutter speeds?
13 July 2012What would you improve?
Not sure if / how you could lessen the two bright spots on the bowl, but its a small point given the overall composition

This shot is really good. From the hands down to that bowl of sand. Great composition and a good effect on the falling sand

My eyes seem to get caught in the weird effect that dish has on me, I think changing the tone would make things better

G'day Peris! A very well executed concept given Life by your excellent use of light and colour. Just the right choice of shutter speed for the movement of the sand and the shadows add mood and drama to the image. The imagery is reminiscent of "the sands of time running through our hands". GB D!
6 July 2012What would you improve?
Perhaps tone down the two very bright highlights on the dish.

What do you like?
The colours are so rich and I love the way the light reveals lines and details in the palms of your subjects hands.

The little white spot on the back side of the bowl is a bit distracting to my eye. Based on where your light sources is I know it makes sense to have a highlight there, but the light is catching the colour in the hands and the motion in the sand so nicely that I just find the highlight unnecessary. I might also consider burning the highlight on the front of the bowl, not to delete it, but to make it a little less obvious. Great isolation of your subject matter.
