@roderikk Thank you very much for the feedback.
by barrington 8 February in reply to roderikkbarrington, very nice shot. Great colours and texture too. I do agree with some below about the white line on the bottom. And some of the spots on the snow make it almost look as if my screen is dirty :-).
by roderikk 8 February@mblum4 @sarajil Thank you very much.

by sarajil 7 Februarylovely photo ,very creative-the snow and the spot set the composition-love your photo -MariaBlumberg
by mblum4 7 February@CraigHarris The white line is the wall of the canal which is covered in snow. I left it in to anchor the tree, but I should have left it bigger I think.
by barrington 7 February in reply to CraigHarriswow - I'd have never ever guessed that was a canal surface, I absolutely thought it was a shadow of a tree, but I couldn't work out how it could have possibly been taken through a window given it's positioning and I couldn't work out what else those small blotchy marks could have been!
by CraigHarris 7 FebruaryI think a completely different composure would be needed for us to actually identify what it is/was, but I really like the idea you had; just a shame it didn't come across as a sharp & powerful image - presumably you was on your limit for shutter speed, or tried using a flash which didn't have enough reach - is that why there's a bright white line at the bottom?

by barrington 7 February in reply to kavianThank you all for your comments. This is actually a photograph of the surface of a canal. The texture you can see is not noise, but snow which was laying on top of the frozen surface. You can see in the black parts of the photo that there is no noise there. The snow flakes where actually chunks of ice that had been dislodged by an animal, from either above or below, I'm not sure which. The pattern which looks like a tree is where the ice had begun to melt. The canal had these patterns forming all the way a long it, and i'm going to add another photo taken from a little further down, which is more panaramic. The white line at the bottom is the canal wall which was covered in snow, and after reading the comments here I am glad I left it in, as it gave the tree something to 'grow' from. However I do wish I had made it bigger.
Its a real nice image, the snow flakes are a little distracting, really like that it looks like a tree
by fredclarkphotography 7 FebruaryWhat do you like?
I really like the composition. I don't really care about the noise and the dirt spots or whatever on the picture.
What would you improve?
I don't really like the white line on the bottom. You maybe could have tried to make it bigger or leave it out at all.
Interesting idea but I get the impression it was shot through a dirty window.
by CraigHarris 6 Februarytoo much noise for me
by dan54231 5 FebruaryHmm.. This is interesting! But what is that white line at the bottom? And I think, it would be better without the snowflakes!
by kavian 5 FebruaryBut this is really creative and I like the purple tones!
