What do you like?
gret texture and feel. really soft. and great lighting
What would you improve?
this is perfect, i wouldnt change a thing
great detail - soft, white and great composition! nice job!
by tallienat 22 February@GlennN I used a Tokina 35mm f/2.8 Macro lens at f/5.6, ISO 100, 1/13sec and no tripod but sort of leaning on the ground at this point. If I were smart I suppose I should have just clicked my ISO a little to get more flexibility out of the rest.
by Teuce 21 February in reply to GlennNGenerally yes, i would have focussed on the center of the flower, but I just sort of spotted this little guy and went for it. My light was coming through a fence and changed on me pretty quickly. The focus I ended up with on those spikey bits on the right ended up very interesting to me though.
I wish this picture wasn't so blurred

I really love the simplicity of the colours (white, green & gold - I'm Australian!!) and the positioning of the flower in the frame.
For me, the green spiky things around the right side of stigma really balance the shape of the in focus petals on the left side of the frame. The exposure really appeals ot me.
What were your settings (mm, f/, ISO, lens). These always interest me as much as the photo itself.
What would you improve?
The DoF seems a little too shallow for me & it hurts my eyes as it constantly searches around for a sharper point to lock onto. I end up focusing on the white petals to the left and then the greenish spiky bits to the right of the stigma. Shouldn't the stigma be the main element in the photo?
Did you perhaps take a shot that focused on the center most point of the stigma, with enough DoF to maybe just bring in the white petals to the left?
