Description:

I'm trying to learn to light, and this is one of my shots from a test session. I train MMA & Muay Thai, and know a lot of fighters, so I'd like to start taking some fight portraits. This is the typical strobist style setup - an umbrella on axis for fill, and a Lumiquest SB-III camera left. This was my first time trying this, so any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I do know one mistake I made, I relied on the LCD rather than the histogram for exposure, and all my shots were about 2 stops under. I had to increase it in post, which increased noise.

  good compostition, I like the full black background

  What would you improve?

  you could try a couple of filters for different styles and colour, they will work well with the lighting
