What do you like?
Nice capture of the Great Blue Heron.

I would agree with @Outline ... crop your photo so that the Heron is in the 1/3 by removing some of the bottom and left side of the photo. This will accomplish two things...
1. Centering the bird appropriately
2. Increasing the emphasis on the bird and bring out the birds details more.
I would also recommend increasing the saturation just a tad bit. -

Really nice picture. Good depth of feild and color contrast. I still don't have a Great Blue Heron shot this good.

I too feel that you could take a little off the left and the top to move the bird over to the left third line and have him fill the picture more.

What do you like?
I like the Great Blue and the out of focus background. I would tone down the white parts of the bark

I might change the composition to get the great blue closer to the 1/3 mark on the left

I really like the colour tones in your background and how they work together to add a feeling of place to your photo while simultaneously being blurred enough to really isolate the heron as your subject.

I think I'd play around some with the cropping. I think I'd try taking a few centimetres off the left hand side of your image to put the heron on the line of thirds and then a few cm's off the top of your image as well to maintain the classic 4x6 framing. Alternately, if you can, I'd try taking a few cm's off the left side of the image and adding the space to the right side so there is more room for the heron to look/"move" in to. Great capture!!
