- I'm not totally happy with the compostion.
I don't really want to go into reasons as to why just yet, but i'd like to get some feedback on how you would have framed this. I've already cropped off the top and bottom, so that can also be re added if needed.

What do you like?
Interesting terrain with the mountains in the far distanceand the flatland (looks like a desert area).

I'm not real sure how to compose this photo, except I would crop a bit more off the bottom and leave a bit more of the clouds in the photo (add some of the clouds back at the top). My goal here is to increase the contrast of the brown earth against the blue/white/ dark gray sky. This may give the photo more character. Honestly I believe this photo has wayyyy too much brown in it. It is very difficult to distinguish how tall the hill/mountain is which the person is standing on in relation to the flat land below, Because it is all brown it may be a huge difference, but I can't tell. Actually I see the photo has a lot of green in it but the brown and green kind of merge together resulting is a "dull" picture.

What do you like?
Absolutely breathtaking. The color and content is amazing.

It might be less distracting if you cropped out the mountain a little bit, but it's very well done!

I like the sense of solitud and drama in this image i like the contraposition of this big mountain rocks and the figure of the man ,i like the mistery coming from the figure of this man observing the nice land,.and I love the nature here, the colors ,that clouds add drama to the composition .very good shot

Forgot to add, not related to framing, I really like the rich colours on the mountain side and the cool blues reflected in the distant clouds and mountains on the horizon. You could try very slightly brightening, or adding a touch more contrast to your photo to add a bit more visual interest.

I actually quite like the composition here. I find the various lines and where you've placed them quite interesting. I love that you've put your horizon across the centre of the photo and that the line of the mountain, that goes from almost the top third of your photo to the bottom left corner, is almost perfectly mimicked in the black clouds. If I were to crop it again I think I'd experiment with cropping it closer still, putting the bottom left corner right before that first drop in the mountain side (so, taking about an inch off the bottom and an inch and a half off the left side that way the line of the mountain side actually does perfectly intersect with the corner of your photo). I'm curious to know what you don't like about the composition of this photo?

kanonkop@dan54231 @AlexandraLauren @mblum4 thanks guys!
22 July 2012Lauren, funny you mention the horizon in the middle of the frame being nice, cause that is one of the things that bothers me. the question i ask myslef is, is the photo about the clouds and sky, or is it about the stark land and the view? because with the sky and land having equal volume, it feels like its about niether.
The other thing is the mountain that he is standing on. i really like the colour, detail and texture of it. but it also feels like it takes up to much of the frame. for a shot thats supposed to be about the view, more than a third of the frame isn't view at all, just the hill that we standing on.. perhaps cropping the bottom and right is the way to go? could also change the aspect ratio..
thanks for the comments
