I think this is a really cool idea for expressing something about your father. He is portrayed as a hard-work man (when I say man I mean a manly man!).

It might be fun to try and crop the picture in such a way that the left strap of the overall is barely in the image. If it were my photo I would lighten the blues, bring in some more light on the fork, and move the source of light slightly closer to him to soften the light slightly. That sounds like a lot but it is really just slight adjustments that would make a huge difference.

i like that the composition and lighting are very dinamic, the color pallete is great, and it tells a great story. overall a very dramatic image.

that light pole (?) in the background over his shoulder bothers me, i would try taking it out in post production, as well as that tree (?) next to it. also, i would try diffusing the light a bit, maybe pull it backwards a few inches or lower the power level.

Nice portrait of your dad. You picture him while he's at work, so we learn something about your dad.

The left side of your dad is a bit too dark for me.

Well, that's a classic pic. It reminds me of Grant Wood's work, "American Gothic". But this one is nice too. Has a great impact

I think the light is a bit weird here. Maybe if it would be more soft the image would have a great +

iMr Adam Scott ,i think this portrait is nice ,,,i found the light an element wich really reall help to see nice effects ,the shades in the right is a complement in the image,,you can difuse the shades at the left a bit to feel the image really nice -its a good photography and composition there are not really big mistakes as you imagine, the light, the shades are also very good in this image ,-I also would say you can fix the bright spot in the lens ,but i see as a natural reflection of the sun ,i think using photoshop or lightroom 4 ,windows live gallery or photoshop online editing express would help to fix all -I hope this help

I like the fork :) in combination with the dark clouds and the look I almost feel threatened haha. I love the fact that your dad is willing to be your model!

Because of the position of the flash you got very strong shadows witch is a shame, with another light on the right you could have provented it, or, if that is no option, bring back the light more! You can also use a softbox, to defuse the light more. If you place it a litte higher you can prevent the strong flash in the glasses.
Anyway, I like this style! So keep working at it :) -
