- Description:
- This was prompted by a competition involving my Camera Club. The main image was shot in about 1967 on a Zeiss Contina 35 mm film camera and subsequently digitally scanned - hence the quality is not as good as I would like.
I might rescan the negative more careully and do a general rework, so all feedback & suggestions very welcome. - Tag(s):

Nothing at all, I find a lot of your photography inspirational and this is one of my favourites.

I come back to this photo often. It's fascinating as you see from the many comments. You and I are about the same age so I identify with your feeling. Mix of film and digital ~ gripping!
What would you improve?
This 'Improve' part... To quote the pope's recent public remark, "Who am I to say?" I could never equal this concept.

I love it. It tells a story, and that´s what a photograph should do. Well cropped and well composed, I like it just the way it is :)

Had another thought today. Neil Young wrote a song called "Old Man" which opens with the words "Old man take a look at my life; I'm a lot like you were." Lay those words over your portrait and the mind boggles. Maybe it is the past talking to the present ... unaware he is doing it. In your portrait, not only is the young man "a lot like you were"; he is you. I've also seen the possibility of this work as a book cover. Now someone just has to come up with the story. Put a copyright on it!

oh its nice portrait pretty cool. I love the creativity here also the photo in color and combination with black and white here ,Nice idea ,very nice capture
What would you improve?
You can do some work here ,instead of framing the first photo in color ,,maybe try to create a new composition with the actual photo ,and the black and white at the back ,I think you can blur a little bit the background or you can add some bokeh with pastels colors its n idea from me , ,,but I love the photo ,awsome photo, you are really young in mind ,,its so nice feeling about your self here ,,emocionally is really great excelent shot ,,

What do you like?
The whole idea / concept of this photo is terrific and the execution marvelous. The side-by-side view of you at these two points in time is captivating. Using the mirror creates so many intriguing thoughts about the man and the boy. The glasses, the similar clothes, the look on the face and the body language of the current you, seems to be saying so many things to, asking so many questions of the younger more defiant you. The words: "If I only knew then all I know now." come to mind. Or maybe even better, the old cliche: "When I was your age!" Well in this case the you today is the you shown in '67, not some third person you are trying to mentor or influence or tell a funny story to. This could be a classic. The color vs B&W, the backgrounds, the position of the you's and the emotions are absolutely amazing. I think anyone viewing this great portrait will have deep, new, personal feelings about their own lives as a result. I have looked at many old photos of myself but never in a similar context. Your work here has changed that. Thank you.
What would you improve?
Do not touch it. The differences in qualify and technology between the two points in time are important parts of the story line. If anything, regress, keep the '67 shot as close to original as possible. You cannot change the young man in the picture ... why change anything else?
