- Just purchased a cheap studio kit and dragooned my girlfriend into posing for me so i can grab a bit of experience. dont know much about lighting theory so any tips that can help me improve will help heaps.

I think you have probably nailed the lighting just right. I could you see you used a cloth backdrop? With a 50 mm prime lens you can get great DOF and enough gaussian blur of the background to make it negligible.. well done! One tip I can probably think of is shooting an off-camera flash...remote triggered type... this allows u to be more creative with the mood of the shots as you move the flash around the subject.. give that a try.. keep experimenting, and share what you learn! :)

I like the portrait ,,,good position of the model,this shot is perfect ,,nice composition ,good style and the make up pretty cool I love the tone of the skin,delicated portrait ,good shot and capture

I think you can have another shots as this, try to choose nice enviroment as a river ,or garden ,beach or a romantic bench in a park ,you can have a portrait very nice with your girlfriend -i love your first portrait ,,for more shots ,,,

I am not of the studio kind, so there's not much of a tip I can offer. Having said that...I love this shot; the model's pose is perfect to me, her skin tone, the background and her dress are very well matched; the perfectly focused dark hair adds to the shot, and the bright red lips.......is like a burst of color. Two things that really draw my attention: her tattoo and the bright red lips. Awesome shot, if this is your first experiment....I want to see more of your studio work. Thanks for sharing!!

3 OctoberAnd thanks @zamilphotos i appreciate the tip but im already using a 2 light setup with a 80x120cm softbox as my key and had a smaller 50x70cm softbox as a rim light.
