This photo was rather difficult, because one of the horses in the background kept picking up the hat and carrying it around with him :-P
But, this was one of the only ones I got that I liked the angle of both the horses and the hat, so... enjoy! :-)

I really love the fact that the subject of the image is in focus while the background is blurred to add interest and put it in context. GREAT idea.

Love the whole thing, the only think I might consider doing differently is adding some more tonal range to the values of the black by darkening the blacks a bit.

Great technique...I can imagine the effort that went in to capture the moment. Great colour balance and the overall exposure is spot on. The blurred background allows the hat to standout. Great angle as well

I am just curious how the shot would look if we invert the focus; i.e. blur the hat and bring the horses in focus. Nonetheless a great shot...

For me the only thing I think I would do different is the hourse behind the hat. I would like to see the face of the hourse and not just he's neck sticking out from the ground. Or no hourse at all. I know how hard it is to work with animals so it's still a wonderful job.
