I cannot put my finger on why I enjoy this image so much, for some reason not having the subject infocus works

Unfortunately it misses a bit of sharpness and the photo is a bit overly bright, if flash used try using the cam without onto a bright sunny day or try a few different angles and comps in order to try and soften the light a bit, just seen your f-stop, try using a smaller f-stop next time round to reduce the light a bit (like f/8 or more) Just experiment a bit with it, take shots and if still too bright go on changing the f-stop untill you get it about right :)
