Nice shot! Such a mysterious atmosphere, I bet some people out there could create many stories from this photo. There are just so many possibilities! ^^
I like the composition! The lower angle gives a different touch, almost like we're experiencing this from a little insect's point of view., hehe. Also, great title for this photo! :)Helpful 1 25 OctoberWhat would you improve?
I think there are a few little things you could've done (or still could edit?) that would make this photo really stand out.
First of all, the focus. I know it's hard to find a focus point this low on the ground, but I'm not a huge fan of the back focus with the foreground all blurry. I don't know if you did this on purpose or not, but I personally just find it distracting to the eye. I think it would be interesting to have the leaves in the foreground in focus, with the trees blurred in the background. Or, you don't even have to use a shallow DOF - you could use a narrower aperture (f/8 and up or so?) so that you would capture more in focus, like all of the foreground, or even the whole image.
Second, the lighting. The photo seems naturally dark to me, which I can understand because it seems like a cloudy day. However, messing with the brightness and contrast in an editing program like Photoshop would really help bring out the small details that can make or break a photo :)
I hope that helped you some! Excellent concept though, I like your idea. :-) -

I love it! Very good use of a dark day. Some of the strangest places may be the best ones.

I like the spooky feel; the filigree of the branches; the colour contrast from the green ferns; the unusual point of view.

I'd crop about 15% off the bottom of the picture and I'd experiment with cropping something off the righthand side

30 OctoberThank you all very much. Seems to be a concensus here that the focal point should be brought forward, so I shall bare this in mind next time i'm doing something similar. This photo was actually taken after sunset which is what created the spooky natural darkness.
