- This was a macro shot taken with my 100mm Canon Macro Lens with IS. I decided to use a Photoshop filter to turn it into a sketch and liked the results.

Welcome to Focussion Debra.
Usually I am not a big fan of artistic filters in photoshop because they are often overdone ar the filter used just didn't help the image but in this case I really like the choice of filter and the amount you have applied to this image. Very artistic and pleasing to the eye.
(some filters just make my eyes bleed). ;-)What would you improve?
Have you considered just rotating the entire image 90 deg clockwise and make this a wider image as opposed to a tall image?
'Landscape' mode instead of 'portrait' mode is what I mean to imply.
Good job. I could see this being printed and used as a empty note card. Your own creation and cheaper than spending 8 bucks on a Hallmark card. :) -

I think this treatment works really well. Good colours and overall very delicate. It is reminiscent of a Japanese print. What would you improve?
Just a minor point, but I think the composition would be slightly improved if the bee were lower in the frame.

debra52Thank you. I could easily do that adjustment. I will definitely give it a try.

debra52Thank you Keith. My husband suggested the same thing about rotating the image. I will give it a try. What you see is how the shot was taken. The flowers grow in stalks. I agree with you about filters. I am trying for a style that is unique. There is a a photographer who uses filters quite a bit and I love her work (Nitsa - No Rules Photography). I would like to find my own niche - not necessarily limited to greeting cards but I certainly wouldn't rule that out if it meant making a few bucks.
26 June 2014otinkyadI rather like the "vertical letterbox" format of this image :)
26 June 2014debra52The flower grows in vertical stalks. I tried rotating the photo horizontally. Flipping it just didn't look right to me.
