Description:
This was taken from a boat on the Bridgewater Canal. The Canal is the oldest "true" canal in the UK. It was built in 1761.
The tower is the Beetham Tower. It was built in 2006 and is the tallest residential building in the UK. The railway viaduct was built in 1848. The modern bridge just in view on the right hand side was built in 1996 as part of the regeneration of the Castlefield canal basin area.

The shot is contre-jour and so the shadows were very dark in the original. I've brought the shadows up and I quite like the slightly unnatural feel this gives to the image.
