- Description:
- This is Version 2.The original I processed on my laptop - and when I opened it on my workstation - nearly had a heart attack (which, at my age - is a very real possibility ;) ). It was terrible! Anyway - this is updated...
A little about this image - A couple of weeks ago, I gained "UN-Authorized Access" to an abandoned Fort (built in 1902). The signs around the property were a little daunting (Violators Will Be Arrested), but - well - I wasn't arrested or anything. This is one of the ammunition galleries, which was kind of eerie. I've contacted the caretakers of the Fort - and hope to get "Authorized Access" to document the rest of the buildings for local historians. We will see...
Sony A7R - RAW - processed in Lightroom, NIK and PS. Lens was a Sony SEL1018 F (APS-C) used in FF mode (awesome little lens!). - Others also liked:

What do you like?
Quite right it is a eerie and mysterious mood, with excellent depth with a variation of textures. Leaves a lot for the imagination.
What would you improve?
A great historical momentum of years gone by.

What do you like?
AWESOME, I love the different textures and colours of the dead wood and paint in the building.
What would you improve?
I would make the background black and white so there is more focus inside the building.

John, I don't know which is more awesome in this shot, the photographer or that A7R. I hope you get access to do a complete shoot. Great job, Joe

What do you like?
The composition that leads you thro the image to the exterior view; the detail; the sense of slightly heightened reality; the air of desolation & decay. Given the range of illumination from the dark interior to the brightly lit exterior I'm surprised you managed to get all of the image within exposure range without using HDR.
Clearly a "Dunkle" from the first glanceWhat would you improve?
Sorry A can't think of anything

johndunkleHi Richard (@otinkyard) - many thanks for the comments..! As well, it's interesting, but the sensor and the image processor in the Sony A7R is tremendous. No offense to Nikon, but - I never had the same results in trying to pull detail out of an NEF (Nikon RAW) as I do an ARW (Sony Raw) file? While I'm still learning the Sony optics and sensors, I really appreciate what they retain in the detail..

Anyway - just a "short ramble" to say "Thank You!"..!

Hi John. This is much better, I thought the first one was a bit out but I could not put my finger on what it was. Great detail in this shot as always. Mike.

johndunkleHi Mike..! Well - saying you ".. could not put my finger on what it was..." is far too kind, my friend! When I opened the original I had previously uploaded on the workstation I usually use to PP - I nearly feel out of my chair (or had "the Big One" (heart attack) ;) ).. Anyway - my sincerest thanks for all, as well especially the e-mail the other day.. It's very appreciated..!

Nice photo John. I was going to comment on this yesterday but.......then it was gone! Lots of detail, interesting subject matter with a history behind it. It is always fun to do something forbidden (especially at our age. Lol) I hope you get authorization to access the building, as I would love to see more of it.......Linda
