- Ilford Delta 400 R09 1+25
Still trying to make a difference between 1+25 and 1+50.
I am never good at photographing people but I like how I captured some action here.
In post I managed to get the detail out of the shadow, especially the wheel in the bottom right hand corner.

Really nice B&W. The composition is great and I don't usually take photos of people either, but I can't imagine this shot without him. Love the steam.Helpful 1 22 July 2014

Excellent..!! Simply excellent...! I can see that there is still definition in the sky, which says the exposure was "right on" - as was/is development - and too - there is definition in the shadows... Really well done from a technical standpoint!! For that, I'm guessing there is a bit MORE detail in the shadows that can be pulled in the negative - as it's there even in your image above, just not fully brought out yet?? If you do decide to bring that out - you might want to increase the contrast in the mid-tones just the slightest little bit? That way, you will have a slightly more contrasty image without losing any of the highlights or shadows (sort of the old fashioned "dodge and burn" under the enlarger ;) I know you know what that's all about!!!)... I keep imagining this shot printed out on a high-contrast resin paper - like Ilford Multigrade IV MGD (my favorite - yet a bit expensive?) - in the darkroom... It would be stunning, to be honest....
For that though - Mike (@Flyer01) is right-on in his comments.. A wonderful execution and composition - especially with the steam cloud, which adds so very much!!! You certainly composed and pressed the shutter button "right at the exact moment"...
Your skills with film are remarkible. And I'm really pleased with all you've posted on this site. Frankly - it's amazing...!
Keep shooting and encouraging others to do the same who want to shoot film... That's what the art is all about - and needs!!!
Hi Yhattara. I am no expert on B & W but this looks like a good shot to me. The composition is good and it is sharp and well exposed, I like the man at work and the steam it adds more interest to the shot. From your notes I assume this is a film shot which makes it even better achievement. Mike.Helpful 1 21 July 2014
