Fabulous portrait! How do you manage to find models so interesting, intriguing… they themselves tell a story! Having him wear those shades was a very good ideas as the eyes peering through the shades is adding another element of mystery to it…11 December 2013
John Many thanks for your comments.I am glad you like it.I only took two shots of him and this was the result of one of them.No studio, just flash .4 December 2013
You know what??? In looking at the thumbnail on this main page - I could have SWORN I was looking at a portrait of a man, whose eyes were HIDDEN by the sunglasses?? When I opening it up - only after close inspection - did I even notice the gentleman's eyes??!4 December 2013
As well - I'm posting this as a comment and not a critique, because I can only find one darned tiny thing to suggest?? That is the little white highlight right over his right shoulder (our left). If it's not an epaulet on his shoulder, I'd take it out? Yep - that's it.. That's "all I got"...
This has got to be one of the best portraits I've ever seen - period.. I love the monochrome, the tones, the tilt of his head, the incredible "hidden eyes".. In fact - this portrait transforms right in front of the viewer??! I've never seen something like that before in a portrait...
If this isn't hanging in a gallery or a show - it should be... Yep, I think it's "that good"...
(BTW - some of your portraits are tremendously powerful images given your models. This is one such image...)
