The focal point is right where you wanted it to be...........the eyes tell the story and they truely are the windows of the soul.3 March 2014
As Keith said, the eye contact is so powerfull here, and also the reflection in his eyes is amazing! I never worked with analog cameras, so I would have loved to see this as a digital image tack sharp with the beautiful depth of field it has. But of course, this is excellent the way it is. A fave, no doubt :)Helpful 1 3 March 2014
Like the intensity of his eyes. Certainly makes it more "personal" and up close when you get this type of eye contact. Nice DOF where every aspect of his face, even his ears are in focus. Great job there JohnHelpful 1 3 March 2014
As this is shot on film ( I highly suspect anyway) I can live with the grain.
Isn't it strange that in this digital age we angst about digital noise and grain effect in our images yet even today, with digital music, we see people pining over vinyl recordings, longing for those pop and hisses that digital recordings stripped from our stereos. And then we have those Instagram filters that make our photos look like they were taken in the late 60's with tinted and desaturated colours.
All those things seem moot when we see an image of this caliber.
Film is now retro, who'd a thunk it!
I like the grain!
I would have liked it if his chin was not cut off though.....
AhHa! thought you'd get that past me eh? ;-) Please excuse the Canadianism (eh). I don't really say that all that often but I tend to write it far more often than I say it in real life.
