- My first attempt at a photo like this.
A really nice subject and idea despite all the elements not quite coming together. A shame the girls face is showing motion blur. I would also lighten the shadows on the children. I don't mind the cable although as suggested it would be very easily removed4 January 2016
Really great candid type capture. The tree is nicely glowing and the cost are warm and really set the mood. Twenty-one seconds is a long time to hold still for a little one! Nice job for your first attempt. Always play around with the scene taking more than one shot using different settings. Are you shooting manual mode? Was this a planned shot? Assuming you used a tripod?4 January 2016
I would crop just slightly to the left and remove the cord through post processing assuming you can do it. And remove the vord. Their little faces are a bit dark. This can also be fixed after the fact with LR or PS. See how the bear had more of a warm glow to his face? Also I'd put some light to the bulb she is holding. Pherhaps open up tell shadows on the baby a little as well.
Initially I would have used a wider aperture to help increase the light just a dad bit. But these are the things you want to play around with if you can. To take good pictures, we can't just take one and hope for the best. We have to work at getting the shot. Although I do understand some shots are a one time opportunity. Another pretty shot would be the kids in front of the tree. Use your widest aperture have them in focus and the tree blurred. This would give what's called bokeh. Please feel free to ask questions about anything I've said here. Again, very pretty shot that does a great job of catching the holiday mood. And it is helpful when giving feedback to know if you do post processing and what modes you shoot.
