Ah Moths! My favourite subjects.26 February 2016
I'm not familiar with this species as I only study British ones however it's certainly a very attractive little moth.
Nicely photographed although I have to agree not on a pleasing bg. Moths can be attracted to sugar solutions, pheromones, flowers and light depending on the species of course but certainly do not need to be killed to photograph them.
I often run moth light traps and find that they will often settle once attracted to a light and can then easily be coerced onto something more suitable for photography.
I think you have a great subject here, great colours and with a little patience I'm sure you will get it on something more natural and then have a terrific shot
I think this photo would be more effective had the moth been on a more natural background. I'd also crop out the distraction on the right and that smaller bug on the left. Also feels a little underexposed.25 February 2016
