Very good Mike! The bee is in good focus, the colors are right on, and the leading lines of the flower into the center of the flower is right where the bees focus is at as he collects the pollin. I tried taking a shot of a bee yesterday but, it didn't turn out this good. Did you use your Nikon for this shot?

Flyer01Hi Linda. Thank you for all the kind comments. I used my Sony A77 with a Minolta 70-210 Macro lens at 210 mm for this shot. The Sony has a lot of things I like except for the EVF which I find worse than useless when taking model aircraft flying shots.
19 July 2015I have updated the firmware on the Nikon which seems to have more or less cured the focusing issues I had with it earlier so I am torn between the two at the moment.
Thanks again Linda. Mike.
skypilotO.k. So what do you mean by "update the firmware" and how did you do that? I struggle with the same issue on my Nikon.
19 July 2015Flyer01Hi Linda.
19 July 2015The firmware is similar to the operating system your computer runs on.
The first thing to do is check the version of firmware installed oin your camera.
In Menu go to the setup menu (open ended spanner symbol) scroll down to the bottom (third page on mine) to Firmware Version, push OK button. You should be running version 1.02 if not go to the site below.
Nikon Service and Support. Hopefully the link below will work.
http://nikonasia-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8105/~/nikon-d5200-firmware---c-firmware%3A-ver.-1.02---download
You will find the latest version there to download plus a PDF doc explaining how to install it.
I hope the above is more help than confusion.
All the best. Mike.
PS I have the downloaded upgrade on my computer if all else fails.
skypilotO.k. Thanks Mike! I will give this a try!
