Nothing, perfect the way it is...

What do you like?
Wouldn't change anything. Washed out highlights add to the alien look of this photo. It all works for me. The hair framing, details, pale complexion.
7 March 2012What would you improve?
Can't think of anything to improve. Creative thought provoking photo.

Nice eyes but the rest of the face is to washed out for me also. I would like to see it cropped just below the eyes. and darken up the eye brows.

Interesting photo. The photo reminds me of a poster for a horror movie or would make a good subject picture for such a poster. Photo is too washed out for my taste, but I believe this was probably what you were trying to accomplish. Also, like Jack mentioned .... Her eyes seem larger than real life.

It's a really beautiful image!
Interestingly, I just put up a new shot, where the girl was squinting too much, so I 'opened' her eyes a bit more than reality called for, because I was thinking along this same 'Manga' line.

You wrote in your response: "Everything is like it is suppose to be" ...
When you've put so much effort into creating an image like this, I know it's difficult to take a step back, forget about what's in the forefront of your thinking with regard to what you were trying to achieve, and see clearly what you actually have. I sometimes need to set an image aside for a month or two (or longer), so I can come back and look at it more objectively; with fresh eyes. I sometimes also can't understand what people are trying to point out in their remarks on an image, because it's still too close to me ... but maybe months later, I'll re-read what they wrote & it will hit me like a ton of bricks that it was so obvious! ... how could I not have seen it myself at the time?? LOL
I'm saying this to you, because I generally like your work allot, and think you're very good & quite creative. But ... nothing is ever 'perfect'. It's always only as close to 'perfect' and we (as artists) can bring it to at the time, and to a large degree what we can accept. I'm sensing that you get very deeply involved with your images (like me), and start feeling a little defensive when someone points something out to you, with which you don't happen to agree with at the moment. I hope you can learn to step back a little & keep a more open mind ... on the off chance that there actually might be something you're overlooking.
Please don't think I'm 'scolding you', because I'm not. I'm simply trying to hold you to a higher standard than I normally would with other people, because I think you deserve that respect. I happen to love that 'manga' look myself, but am inclined to agree somewhat with what others have said before me concerning the lower portion of her face looking (a tiny bit) too washed out.
In manga images, the nose and mouth are always downplayed in favor of the eyes, with the nose sometimes being almost nonexistent (but still keeping a somewhat strong representation for the mouth), thus super-emphasizing that triangular relationship between eyes & mouth. I think you've lost that relationship here, and the image is feeling a little top-heavy as a result.
If you haven't already done it, more prominent 'lipstick' on the mouth is an easy fix, with a few careful curves tweaks. I personally would also like to see the shadow line at the base of her nose (and nostrils) beefed up a tiny bit ... but could easily change my mind on that depending on what effect the 'lipstick' tweak has first. After all that is resolved, that 'too washed out' impression might simply vanish.
Please ... keep up the great work.
I always look forward to seeing what you're going to post next :) -

Everything is like it is suppose to be, it is inspired by the Manga comicbooks were it is almost all about the eyes. So yes they are enlarged, the comic is Japanese and they seem to idolise the large eyes :). It is half of a face mirrored obviously and the nose and mouth are made smaller. I sould have used a darker lipstick i guess to bring out the mouth a bit more. Thanks all! -
shod
nice shot, id play with some curves a little bit to bring out her nose a bit more.

ps, i like what you've done here to create the symmetry. well executed ;) -

Love the portrait, its beautiful. The face is perfectly symmetrical and the eyes are larger then I would expect did you enlarge the eyes ?

bobbo0521I agree with @ViewsOfParadise that it is a too overexposed and her face doesn't match her neck. The blown out highlights make it quite hard to identify her nose which takes away from this photo, unfortunately. The big eyes are unrealistic but you do a very good job at making it seem like a natural part of her face. However, since I can't really see her nose the face looks even more distorted.
14 October 2011As far as your photography technique - this is spot on the type of photography we expect from you on here. Very clear and well thought out. Excellent detail in the eye. Bravo!
