i really like how this looks like real life in front of a painting. awesome catch of the ball suspended in air. great job, very artful!

This is very good. I like the DOF and how the Red Ball really pops.

i'm not sure if this was intentional, but i liek the way the lamp is out of proportion to the guy. its makes it an interesting feature in the pic
8 June 2011-

JmG@kanonkop I don't understand what you say about the proportion of the lamp?
9 June 2011
It's a standard Parisian lamp, only, as the scene is along stairs, the lamp is lower than the guy, and only the head of the lamps appeared, as it is here, in my frame, when I shot. Is this that you find funny? If so, well, it's something else that came with the photo but I didn't search to shoot especially! :)
Thanks to you and Colleen too! -

kanonkop@JmG @Colleen , ya, what i mean is that its kind of like an optical illusion that tricks the eye. the lamp post would normally look a lot smaller if the guy was right next to it (on top of course), but because the lamp post is closer, it looks big. so i just find that relation interesting, and find the 'big' lamp an interesting thing to look at..

hope that makes it a bit clearer :) -

At first, I have to say I did not like it so much, but each time I come here, I like it a bit more... I think it's about the contrast and the effect of the DOF in the lamp!

JmG@asiridol @Akshay thanks guys!

(only hope this thread is not going to go wild about football though... ;)
@Akshay all my photos are edited in Photoshop indeed. My own mixture of "painting" like effect. It's a long time now (about 20 years) that I try to render my photos like a kind of "hyper-photo-realism".
Glad you like it! -

JmG@Akshay of course I won't rephrase nothing! :)

I will not put the original image since I'm one that think that *this* one here is my original.
Look at it this way: when we were in the argentic world (non digital), an image didn't exist before being processed, at the minimum, through a film processing. And more, through a paper processing.
I consider Photoshop exactly as the same use: it serves to process digital images that don't exist before that.
So, there's no original photo before what I decide to show, finally. (I'm talking about my own images of course. Everybody can think differently and when I work on other's images, I don't consider those as "not original before me processing them"). -

Anyways,
I absolutely love this picture.
Amazing DoF, great composition and what a moment to capture!
Correct me if I am wrong, but the picture seems edited in photoshop to me. Cartoon-like effect I guess?
JmG@stran9e @MartinVitek thanks for your feedbacks, men!
