Lens buying
Hey guys, I am new to the gear buying side of this and was wondering whether any one could help me? I have a nikon D80 camera and was wondering if a lens says "not compatible with D40/D60" whether that would mean its not compatible with the D80 either as the D80 is in the next camera up in the line of nikons? If I'm wrong can someone set me straight please? Thankyou ! :)

The reason some lens don't worth with the D40/D60, and the newer D3100/D5100 is because they don't have an internal motor to focus older (AF) lens. The D80 does have a focus motor so most Nikkor lens will work on your body.

The newer AF-S lens will work too. I'm hoping to get the Nikkor AF-S DX 35mm 1.8f G, as I like taking landscapes and low light shots. -

These sites have charts that show what lens types work with various Nikon bodies, including your D80. d:¬{D -

G'day Natasha, If I were you I would take a cruise through these sites: https://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=nikon+lens+reviews&oq=nikon+lens+reviews&aq=f&aqi=g4&aql=&gs_l=hp.3..0l4.2188.6783.0.7011.18.14.0.4.4.1.399.4295.2-5j8.13.0...0.0.nfLJx4lxdyA&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=824f7fbaf424abe7&biw=1920&bih=934 and do my own research. Then make a short list of the lenses you would like based on budget, useage and performance. GB and good luck. D!
