Capturing images is a source of surprise, joy and satisfaction. It's as much about the process as it is about the final product. Photography has taught me to be selective, to be self critical, and to hit delete now and then (a lot, really). Not every image can be salvaged. So when you have the chance to capture the right light, the right composition, and an interesting subject, go for it with gusto.
PS: YES - I ALWAYS edit in post. I'm not a fan of "straight out of the camera" presentation, as it can be improved 99.9% of the time. I shoot RAW.
