My artistic practice maintains an equilibrium between portraiture and landscape photography. The elements of masquerade and fiction are fundamental to my imagery. I work in a serial manner, which is important as I create narratives. The narratives that my practice reveals are inspired by stories such as “Peter Pan” and “A Mid-summer Night’s Dream”. Essential to my work is that I include my own hybridization of mythological stories. I frequently include myself in my series as either a character in a narrative or as myself. The issues that my photographs address are those pertaining to the politics of the body and gender. With the various genres that I use, I explore issues of age, gender and Canadian National identity.
